No. PDFs are parsed and rewritten in your browser’s memory. Nothing is transmitted to a server and nothing is written to disk unless you press download.
Encrypted PDFs need to be unlocked before editing. If a file is protected you will see a clear message asking you to remove the password first.
Documents of a few hundred pages are fine. Very large scanned files (over ~100 MB) may be slow on mobile devices because everything is processed locally.
